Joshua Pacio, a Filipino fighter, received a wake-up call in the form of a defeat at the hands of Jarred Brooks in 2022. This defeat acted as a wake-up call for him, and he is aiming to draw a note from it in their rematch that is slated to take place next month.

At the upcoming event, ONE 166: Qatar, which will take place on March 1, Lions Nation Mixed Martial Arts veteran Pacio will attempt to win back the ONE strawweight Mixed Martial Arts world title that he had previously lost to “The Monkey God” in their initial encounter.

This is the first-ever live on-ground event of ONE Championship in Qatar, and it will take place at the Lusail Sports Arena. The rematch is a part of a packed schedule that will accompany the event.

Joshua Pacio has made it clear that he does not want to experience the same thing that occurred when he was fighting Jarred Brooks for the first time. As a result, he is taking measures to ensure that on the day of the fight, he will be able to demonstrate his revitalized game and emerge victorious.

As said in an interview with The Peninsular Qatar, he stated:

“I was defeated in a bout in which I did not even bring my very best to the table. Due to the fact that I am aware of the mistakes I made during the first bout, I intend to make amends for them during the rematch.

In the fight that took place between them in December 2022, “The Passion” was able to compete head-to-head with Brooks because to his enhanced ground game and solid arsenal of stand-up moves. In spite of the fact that the fight went the entire distance, he was unable to get the judges’ approval and ended up losing by decision.

Over the course of his career, the Filipino fighter had successfully defended the ONE strawweight world title three times before it was taken away from him.

Watch.onefc.com will be the location where ONE 166 will be broadcast live on March 1 via global pay-per-view.

Joshua Pacio prepares early for rematch with Jarred Brooks

Joshua Pacio made it a point to have a head start on his efforts to achieve his goal of reclaiming the ONE strawweight MMA world title. He even sacrificed a portion of his vacation time in order to accomplish this goal.

In a rematch against the current divisional king Jarred Brooks of the United States, “The Passion” is scheduled to have the opportunity to reclaim the global title that he was unable to win in 2022. This rematch will take place at ONE 166: Qatar, which is the first live on-ground event put on by ONE Championship in the prosperous Arab nation. The event will take place on March 1.

Joshua Pacio was defeated by “The Monkey God” in terms of the ONE strawweight MMA world title in a match that took place in Manila in December 2022. The match was decided by a unanimous decision.

The native of Baguio City, Philippines, who is 28 years old, gave an interview to ONE Championship in which he discussed how training has been going for them in their camp and his strategy for playing the rematch. It was him who said:

This time around, I am conscious of the fact that I am going to be more focused. That I am able to properly state and recommend specific routines with what I need for this upcoming battle is because I have this team with whom I can communicate and brainstorm to come up with ideas.

Pacio is heading into ONE 166: Qatar with a win that came on the heels of a victory in his most recent bout, which took place in October. He defeated the Russian fighter Mansur Malachiev by unanimous decision.
