Fabricio Andrade’s self-assurance has never been in question, and the fact that he currently holds the bantamweight world title for ONE Championship is evidence of that.
Fabricio Andrade, also known as “Wonder Boy,” won the ONE world title against John Lineker in a rematch that took place earlier this year at ONE bout Night 7. The first bout between these two competitors had resulted in a no contest. Andrade knew going into his first title battle at ONE on Prime Video 3 in October of the previous year that he would be too much for Lineker, and he delivered on his comments even though he landed the inadvertent foul that terminated the fight. Andrade won the fight by unanimous decision.
The Brazilian striker was already proclaiming himself the uncrowned king of the bantamweight class before to their rematch, and once again, he lived up to his own hype with an outstanding performance against the fighter who had previously held the title. Andrade has already produced an unbelievable run in the promotion, as evidenced by the fact that he has won six matches in a row under the ONE Championship banner, with the only loss on his record being a no-contest.
But he’s just 25 years old, so he’s barely scratching the surface right now. At least that is what he thinks.
Fabricio Andrade gave an interview to the South China Morning Post that was uploaded to YouTube while he was in attendance at ONE Friday Fights 22 this past weekend. The interview was about Fabricio Andrade’s homecoming.
While attending the fight of his close friend and training partner Anatoly Malykhin at the illustrious Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, the fighter known as “Wonder Boy” remarked that the other competitors in the bantamweight division are not currently at the same level as he is:
“I’ve been demonstrating that I’m among the greatest there is. It was a good performance (his victory over John Lineker), since I’ve been like destroying all of those guys, you know. But I am one hundred percent certain, and I have a strong belief that I am on a higher level.
