It is very uncommon for combatants who were born in Russia to train in the cold and punishing winter weather of their country’s native land.
Dmitry Menshikov, who hails from the little village of Prokopyevsk and is a candidate for the ONE lightweight Muay Thai world title, does not mind competing in the bitterly cold weather.
In point of fact, the heavy hitter, who is 25 years old, has even used humor to explain what it is like to spend numerous hours inside the gym while braving through subzero weather. He says it is like “living hell.”
The affiliate of Kuzbass Muay Thai, the Empire Club, provided the following information to ONE Championship:
Even though we experience a severe winter with temperatures that can drop as low as -40 degrees Fahrenheit, we never get chilly because we work out at the gym. The intense training and the yelling of our coach keep us toasty warm.
The amusing remark made by Menshikov appears to have been taken directly from one of the Rocky films, and it most clearly exudes an Ivan Drago-like air.
In all seriousness, however, this merely exemplifies the natural tenacity that the Russian possesses, which is on display each and every time he enters the ring.
When he makes his debut in ONE Championship on June 9, he will be pitted against an opponent who appears to be unbeatable, and he will need all of his courage and determination to prevail.
In the main event of ONE Fight Night 11, Menshikov will be pitted against Regian Eersel, a two-time world champion in his respective sport, for the opportunity to become the ONE lightweight Muay Thai kingpin. This fight will be for the chance to become the ONE lightweight Muay Thai kingpin.
He will enter the organization located in Singapore with an impressive 27-2 record, with 19 of those victories coming by way of knockout or technical knockout.
In addition, Menshikov has won all 11 of his fights since his last loss, and he has no intention of losing any time in the near future.
