In 2023, Conor McGregor will make his UFC comeback. Before taking against Michael Chandler, the former double champion will coach season 31 of The Ultimate Fighter. The criteria made in order for the promotion’s biggest star to make his eagerly anticipated comeback were recently disclosed by UFC President Dana White.
The promotional frontman just made an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show and said:
“The Ultimate Fighter’s Conor McGregor was set to serve as the season’s coach when he said, “Well, I’ll do it, but I’m bringing two people that I want to make it right onto the show.” Naturally, the media [then] screams, “Well, that’s not fair, and what happened to those guys?” Say nothing at all. The folks who aren’t on it will be taken care of, and because Conor wants this, we’ll give it to him.”
Conor McGregor and Dana White have a strong working relationship, according to White, who also said:
He is a fantastic partner. It’s a pleasure to collaborate with Conor. We have never had a disagreement, Conor and I. Consider how this youngster went from being virtually unknown to becoming one of sports’ biggest stars. You haven’t actually witnessed any significant public fights between him and I. When you achieve that degree of celebrity and wealth, things frequently go horribly wrong.
Despite the fact that many thought it was unfair to eliminate fighters from The Ultimate Fighter roster, White promised to take care of them. At UFC 285, Loik Radzhabov, one of the combatants eliminated, won by decision in his promotional debut. The lightweight no longer needs to win the fight to earn his contract; instead, he already has a UFC victory.
Dana White discusses Conor McGregor’s return
It has been revealed who Conor McGregor will face when he makes a comeback in the octagon: Michael Chandler. Dana White admitted that not much is known about the fight’s weight class during his appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, saying:
“The men weigh only 55 pounds, but we haven’t decided what to do yet. We’re still finding that out and working on it. There is still a tonne of work to be done on the Conor fight. They will engage in combat. When, is not assured. What are these people doing, when, and what weight class? Conor is still recovering from his shin break as he films this season of The Ultimate Fighter with Chandler.”
If McGregor has returned to the USADA testing pool is unknown. Before being allowed to enter the octagon again, the former double champion must spend six months at the testing facility and provide two negative tests. Since injuring his leg at UFC 264 over two years ago, “The Notorious” has not participated in any competitions.
