Conor McGregor and Megan Fox: The iconic red-carpet brawl that resulted from the UFC fighter’s allegedly abusive DMs

Conor McGregor is well-known throughout the world for his MMA accomplishments as well as for never backing down from a fight, no matter the opponent. Due to his propensity for engaging in bouts outside of MMA competition, the Irishman has frequently found himself in the centre of the controversy. On September 12, 2021, during the MTV VMAs (Video Music Awards) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, USA, one such incident featuring McGregor took place. Along with his fiancée Dee Devlin, “The Notorious” attended the occasion. The MMA legend and American rapper Machine Gun Kelly, often known as MGK, got into a fight while strolling the VMAs red carpet. (real name: Colson Baker).

Conor McGregor was seen trying to attack MGK and tossing a drink at him in videos of the altercation. MGK and the UFC megastar were thankfully quickly separated by security officers.

Later, it was said that the altercation started because MGK rejected McGregor’s request for a photo when he approached him for one. Additionally, ‘The Notorious’ was allegedly shoved by MGK’s bodyguards. To the contrary, McGregor’s spokesperson Karen Kessler informed ESPN MMA that neither he nor MGK initiated the altercation.

Additionally, according to a report from Extra, MGK and McGregor argued because the Irishman allegedly texted MGK’s now-fiancee Megan Fox abusive DMs before the VMAs. The alleged DMs’ validity and content are yet unknown, though. MGK and Megan Fox, as seen in the video below, declined to comment on the altercation.

Conor McGregor on his altercation with MGK, cordial relationship with Megan Fox

Conor McGregor was questioned by Adam Glyn of Adam’s Apple outside his New York City hotel in the days after the altercation. In discussing the situation, McGregor said there was “no beef” between him and MGK.

He went on to emphasise his amicable relationship with Megan Fox, a famous actress and MMA supporter. McGregor urged them to continue showing up to his UFC fights:

No beef. I’ve never even met the man. I’ve never met him. He is who? claiming to have attended the fights. Megan [Fox] frequently attends fights. Megan is someone I know. I’ve never met the man. There is no issue. Attend the battles. No issue, guy.

Since suffering a horrific leg injury during his lightweight match against Dustin Poirier in July 2021, Conor McGregor hasn’t participated in any competitions. Nevertheless, it is anticipated that the UFC superstar will make a comeback this year to face Michael Chandler, a rival TUF 31 coach.

According to rumors, the McGregor-Chandler fight will be a welterweight contest and might happen in September. Date and weight restrictions for the bout have not yet been made public.
