The Chief Executive Officer of ONE Championship, Chatri Sityodtong, was aware that the fighters who were featured on ONE Fight Night 10: Johnson vs. Moraes III on Prime Video were more than capable of taking the 1stBank Centre in Colorado by storm.
What he didn’t anticipate, though, was the sheer magnitude of Rodtang Jitmuangnon’s hold on the arena crowd in Denver, which was so large that it was sold out.
The current holder of the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world title had the live American audience going bananas with every move he made during his world title bout against Edgar Tabares in the night’s co-main event. The match was for the world title.
As soon as Rodtang knocked Tabares out with a booming lead elbow in the second round of their fight, there was full and utter anarchy in the arena.
Chatri Sityodtong marvelled at how Rodtang captured the live audience during the Thai megastar’s maiden match on American soil during the post-event press conference for ONE Fight Night 10, which took place after the event.
“We have a few stars on our roster, but Rodtang is definitely, I think he’s going to be, and he already is [a huge star],” the coach said. If you take a look at his fan following, I believe he has two and a half million followers, with fifty percent of them coming from the United States. He is completely incapable of speaking the language. Because of his magnetic personality, that’s why.”
Despite Rodtang having already finished his post-fight interview with Mitch Chilson, the spectators continued to chant his name and show their appreciation for his powerful presence in the arena.
It won’t come as a surprise to see Rodtang on the card once more when ONE Championship decides to hold another event in the United States because of the magnetic draw he has on the American public.
Every Prime Video customer in North America has access to a free replay of ONE Fight Night 10, which took place earlier this month.
