Demetrious Johnson believes ONE Championship’s diverse roster was a crowd-pleaser in Colorado

A few weeks ago, ONE Championship made its historic on-ground debut in the United States, and reigning flyweight world champion ‘Mighty Mouse’ Demetrious Johnson was one of the main attractions at the event.

The veteran of mixed martial arts, who is now 36 years old, is largely regarded as one of the best fighters to have ever competed in the sport, but what he saw at ONE Fight Night 10 in Denver, Colorado, was something truly remarkable.

The fact that ONE Championship is known for celebrating other cultures by showcasing talent from all over the world is a breath of fresh air, especially for fans in the United States. ONE Championship is known for this diversity.

Johnson recently made a guest appearance on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, during which he discussed the varied offerings that ONE Championship provided to the United States of America.

Mighty Mouse is quoted as saying:

“I think to give the fans something else besides just mixed martial arts, like a Muay Thai, the submission grappling, you know you got the Ruotolo brothers, you got Mikey Musumeci, you have Rodtang, and you have Stamp Fairtex, you should give them something other than just mixed martial arts.” That was an amazing sight to see.”

However, the fact that so many different cultures are portrayed on ONE’s show isn’t the only thing that makes it stand out; the product itself also contributes to its uniqueness.

The ONE Championship showcases a variety of different styles of martial arts. In addition to its primary Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) competition, the organization also features championship-caliber bouts in a variety of other combat sports, including Muay Thai, kickboxing, and submission grappling, amongst others.

Johnson was able to compete in a unique mixed-rules match in 2022 against ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion ‘The Iron Man’ Rodtang Jitmuangnon, which he won via submission in the second round with a rear-naked choke.
