Jarred Brooks, the current and defending ONE strawweight world champion, is a man of many words. But he never fails to follow through with what he says he’s going to do.
The Mash Fight Team fighter, who is now 30 years old and represents, is one of the most dominant fighters to compete under the ONE Championship banner. He has been undefeated ever since he signed with the company in 2021, which is how he was able to win the coveted golden title.
‘The Monkey God’ is not only incredibly skilled in the Circle and is able to put a beatdown on his opponents, but he is also able to tear his opponents up on the mic and is known to send out some poisonous cutdowns. In point of fact, Brooks makes it a priority to engage in trash talking and get under the skin of those who compete against him.
However, in actual practice, does this occur? The answer is no.
Brooks disclosed in a recent interview with ONE Championship that he is, in reality, very dissimilar to the image of a fighter that he enjoys projecting to the public. The ‘Monkey God’ had this to say:
“I’m a very pleasant person to chat to and meet in person. And if it’s someone I love, I’ll go to any lengths to help them. “And I’m very selfless, I really couldn’t give a fuck about myself,” she said. “I’m very selfless.”
Brooks has stated that he intends to change things up for his next battle and that instead of talking trash with his opponent, he is going to show respect for them.
In the co-main event of ONE Fight Night 13: Allazov vs. Grigorian, which will be broadcast on Prime Video, the ONE strawweight world champion will attempt to defend his ONE flyweight submission grappling world title against BJJ great ‘Darth Rigatoni’ Mikey Musumeci.
On Friday, August 4, the event will be telecast live from the illustrious Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
