The performance that Nico Carrillo displayed in his most recent bout under the ONE Championship banner left fans feeling very delighted.
The 21st of April was Carrillo’s debut with ONE Championship, and he won both of his first two promotional fights by knockout. At ONE Friday Fights 46, which took place on December 22, he competed for the third and final time in the calendar year. His opponent was Nong-O Hama, who had previously held the title of ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion.
Nong-O had just suffered a defeat to Jonathan Haggerty, which resulted in his losing the world title. As a result, the Thai great was even more driven to get back on track. At ONE Fight Night 9, Jonathan Haggerty defeated Nong-O by way of a surprise knockout in the first round, so establishing himself as the new bantamweight Muay Thai world champion under the ONE organization.
Seven months later, Haggerty secured the vacant ONE bantamweight kickboxing world title by prevailing over Fabricio Andrade, who held the title of ONE bantamweight MMA world champion. This victory further cemented Haggerty’s legend.
In the present now, Haggerty is waiting to find out what ONE has in store for him. Following his victory against Nong-O at ONE Friday Fights 46, fans have expressed their desire for Nico Carrillo to be awarded a global shot at the bantamweight Muay Thai title. However, there has been no confirmation of this.
‘The General’ has also expressed his desire to compete in a number of superfights, one of which is an intriguing showdown versus Tawanchai, who is the world champion in the featherweight division of Muay Thai for ONE Championship.
