Elon Musk’s former employee calls for Andrew Tate’s Twitter account to be suspended over hate speech

Published:

Many people are still worried about the appearance of controversial kickboxer Andrew Tate on Twitter. Dex Hunter-Torricke, a former employee of Twitter CEO Elon Musk, has suggested that Tate be removed off Twitter.

Hunter-Torricke, who served as Musk’s chief of communications at SpaceX, is now in charge of examining the Facebook and Instagram content moderation decisions. The Head of Communications for the Oversight Board voiced worry about people being exposed to Tate’s material, which he described as “damaging” and “misogynistic.” In a recent interview with Sky News, Hunter-Torricke said:

There is material that is seriously damaging. I believe we should investigate it on a case-by-case basis. So, we need to take action when there is a history, a track record of really damaging things being done to a whole generation of individuals. We cannot merely discuss it… There is a person here who has been disseminating extremely awful, hurtful, and misogynistic material to many individuals.

Andrew Tate, a self-described misogynist, was banned from Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter as a result of his offensive and divisive remarks. Tate was among a number of people who were permitted back on Twitter after Elon Musk took control of the firm, but Meta has remained steadfast in its ban.

Massive update on Andrew Tate’s arrest

On December 28, Romanian authorities detained Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan on rape and human trafficking accusations. After initially enticing victims with promises of marriage and love, the brothers are accused of forcing them into pornographic actions by threatening to use violence.

Initial requests from DIICOT, the organisation in charge of the inquiry, were granted, and Tate’s custody was extended for 30 days. While being detained in Romania, the contentious kickboxer strangely continues to be active on Twitter.

According to recent developments, prosecutors appear to have requested an additional 60 days to finish the case file. A legitimate YouTube channel called BSN broke the news.

In the same investigation, two Romanian women who were close friends with the brothers were also detained. One of them, former police officer turned security officer Luana Radu, appears to be being questioned again by DIICOT at this time.
