There is no way to dispute the fact that ONE Flyweight Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) World Champion Demetrious Johnson is among the very finest competitors on the face of the earth at this point in his career and in light of all he has accomplished.
Even if it might be argued that he is the best of all time, “Mighty Mouse” does not get the credit he deserves.
Joe Rogan, a podcaster and martial artist in his own right, has been the long-running color commentator for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Rogan is one of his supporters who has always spoken up for him.
Rogan has long held the ONE Flyweight World Champion in high regard and has frequently cited him as an example of one of the most well-rounded martial artists who has ever competed in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).
During a recent episode of the Fight Companion podcast on The Joe Rogan Experience, the host discussed how the fact that ‘DJ’ is a flyweight fighter is the only reason that he is not a massive star who is widely acknowledged as one of the baddest guys in the world:
“That’s the pits! how their diminutive size prevents many people from giving them the respect and appreciation they deserve. As if [Mighty Mouse] was never given the credit he deserved. He has the most refined and elegant interpretation of martial arts that I have ever witnessed. He is the greatest. He is very impressive. And he is such a wonderful human being. Mighty Mouse is the man, plain and simple.
If you have ever heard Demetrious Johnson speak before, then you are aware that he does not compete in order to be applauded or to become a major star. This is something that you already know.
In spite of this, “Mighty Mouse” is deserving of praise and accolades for the historic career that he has led, one that may never again be equaled in the flyweight division in any organization.
