At ONE Fight Night 14, one queen was forced to give up her crown, and another was able to take it.
After Angela Lee’s sad announcement that she was retiring from the sport of mixed martial arts, Thai superstar Stamp Fairtex produced a highlight-reel-worthy finish against Ham Seo Hee to become the new ONE atomweight world champion. Angela Lee’s resignation from the sport of mixed martial arts came only moments after Stamp Fairtex’s victory.

After Stamp’s triumph, Lee gave her the ONE world title, and longtime ONE commentator Mitch Chilson greeted both ladies inside the circle for a chat with the promotion’s first-ever three-sport world champion. Lee is the first person to win the ONE world title in three different sports.
When asked how she was feeling after the momentous win, Stamp responded as follows:
“You are freaking incredible. I have the power to write my own chapter in history, and today is the day I can do it.”
Stamp Fairtex, when asked about Angela Lee’s retirement, said that it made her sad to discover that ‘Unstoppable’ would be leaving the sport, but she expressed her tremendous love and support for Lee:
“I just wanted to tell you that I love you so much and that you will always be my idol… It’s a huge bummer that she has decided not to continue her career in mixed martial arts or in ONE Championship. I simply want to let her know that ever since the first day that I began mixed martial arts (MMA), she has been and will continue to be the person who I look up to the most. “Angela, I love you so much.”

After putting an end to Ham Seo Hee with a nasty body blow in the third round, Stamp Fairtex was rewarded with a $50,000 bonus from ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong. This bonus was well-deserved.
She went on to say that
“Thank you so much, Chatri, for everything you’ve done for me, especially for believing in me and supporting me. Due to the fact that I was sick, I did not have faith in myself during this fight. I didn’t give it my all. However, I am able to accomplish it now, which indicates that my physical health is excellent.I would like to express my gratitude to Khun Chatri for having faith in me even when I did not trust in myself. I would want to express my gratitude to Mr. Wong, Mr. Prem, and the entire Fairtex team for all of their help. Thank you to Angela, thank you to my family, and thanks to everyone else! I’m at a loss for words, but I want to express my gratitude for the love you have shown me.
