A “technical finish” is more important to Mikey Musumeci than a “bigger” win. Aoki, Shinya

In his forthcoming match, reigning and undisputed ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion ‘Darth Rigatoni’ Mikey Musumeci will have to rely on his technique more than ever before.

When he walks back inside the ring, the 135-pound Italian-American BJJ superstar will put the most fundamental premise of jiu-jitsu to the test: can the smaller man submit the larger man in a grappling exchange just by having better technique?

Shinya ‘Tobikan Judan’ Aoki, a Japanese icon and multiple-time former ONE lightweight MMA world champion, will compete against Musumeci in an openweight submission grappling fight during ONE Fight Night 15: Tawanchai vs. Superbon, which will be streamed live on Prime Video.

On Friday, October 6, the event will be telecast live from the illustrious Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, which is located in Thailand.

Musumeci stated in a recent interview with ONE Championship that he is now honing his skills even further in preparation for his deadly opponent.

“Darth Rigatoni” was quoted as saying:

“I’m on this path where I want to have the most technical finishes that I can, where I use my body to the maximal way to get the amount of leverage I need to finish a guy bigger than me,” he said. “I’m going to use my body to the maximum way to get the amount of leverage I need to finish a guy bigger than me.”
Since joining the world’s top martial arts organization in April of 2022, Musumeci has defeated some of the biggest names in ONE Championship so far. Most recently, Musumeci won a fight against ONE strawweight MMA world champion Jarred ‘The Monkey God’ Brooks at ONE Fight Night 13 earlier this month. Jarred ‘The Monkey God’ Brooks was the opponent.

It would be an incredible achievement on his part if he were able to triumph against Aoki, who may be heavier than he is by as much as 25 kilograms (50 pounds).

Amazon Prime Video will broadcast all of the action live and for no additional cost to customers in the United States and Canada.
