Some possible future UFC stars put their respective divisions on notice with crisp knockouts at UFC Charlotte, which featured a night of terrific fights and great finishes. The event took place in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Both Ian Machado Garry and Carlos Ulberg, both of whom had been predicted to become future contenders in their respective divisions, secured finishes in the first round. Before Garry knocked out Daniel Rodriguez with a spectacular head kick, Ulberg knocked out Ihor Potieria through technical knockout.
As a result of their performance at UFC Charlotte, both guys were awarded bonuses for having a Performance of the Night.
UFC veteran Matt Brown added another spectacular knockout to his highlight reel as he put an end to fellow UFC veteran Court McGee with a walkoff finish in the first round. ‘The Immortal’ finished the fight with a submission. Brown was given a bonus of $50,000 and tied the UFC record for the most knockouts in the organization’s history.
In addition to receiving a bonus of $50,000 for his first-round submission victory, Jailton Almeida, who competed against Jairzinho Rozenstruik in the main event of UFC Charlotte, received the victory. All five of Almeida’s victories in the UFC have come through submission, bringing his record to a perfect 5-0.
Dana White, president of the UFC, has stated that both Bryan Battle and Alex Morono will be “taken care of.”
On Saturday night, Battle, who was fighting in front of his hometown fans, secured the victory in shocking fashion by knocking out Gabe Green. This allowed Battle to claim victory. After successfully executing a guillotine choke in the second round of their fight, Morono was declared the victor in their MMA match against Tim Means.
After the event, Dana White made an appearance in front of the media and made the following statement:
“The following employees have been awarded bonuses: Jailton Almeida, Ian Machado Garry, Carlos Ulberg, and Matt Brown. They have each received $5,000; my sincere congratulations go out to them. It goes without saying that there are a few more opponents listed on the card that will be eliminated by us. But each of those gentlemen took home $5,000.
When White was questioned further about who else would be receiving a performance incentive, he responded as follows:
“I couldn’t agree with you more. [Alex] Morono and [Bryan] Battle as well, absolutely.
