Co-Main Event: Paddy Pimblett defeats Jared Gordon by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
On Saturday night, Paddy Pimblett edged out Jared Gordon in the co-main event by a unanimous decision that had many speculating about the results.
The first two rounds of trading between the Liverpool player and Gordon were quite competitive, with the veteran landing at a faster rate while Pimblett tried to speed up the action. The third round was almost entirely fought in the clinch as Gordon attempted to slog out the final five minutes and nullify Pimblett’s attacking strengths after spending the opening two rounds nearly entirely in space.
When the scores were added up, they were all the same: “Paddy the Baddy” had won two rounds to one. It will be interesting to watch what the charismatic rising star does after going 4-0 in the UFC.
Santiago Ponzinibbio defeats Alex Morono by TKO (punch) at 2:29 of Round 3
A crushing right hand that stopped Alex Morono in his tracks and ended the match in just under two minutes saved Santiago Ponzinibbio from defeat.
Morono, who stepped in for the injured Robbie Lawler and was up two rounds, was looking good and damaging Ponzinibbio in each round while keeping him off balance. The Argentine Dagger, however, never stopped advancing and never stopped trying to land, and it only need one.
The experienced welterweight obtained his first stoppage victory in more than four years with the right hand that he landed, twisting Morono’s jaw. The follow-ups clinched the deal. Morono put out a strong performance on short notice, so it’s a terrible way for things to end for him, but it’s just a beautiful conclusion for the former TUF: Brazil standout.
Dricus Du Plessis defeats Darren Till by submission (rear-naked choke) at 2:43 of Round 3
On Saturday, Dricus Du Plessis made progress in the middleweight division by defeating Top 10 veteran Darren Till through third-round submission.
Du Plessis attacked Till in the opening round, pummeling the Liverpool fighter for four minutes and forcing referee Mark Smith to consider interrupting the bout several times. Till made a small comeback in the second, but he was ultimately defeated by the takedowns that were coming his way.
Till was placed on his back by a body lock takedown, and Du Plessis quickly climbed into mount. When Till offered his back, “Stillknocks” quickly tightened the choke, prolonging the tap.
The advancing South African, who is currently 4-0 in the UFC and on a six-fight winning streak overall, should end the year with a single digit next to his name and be regarded as a middleweight contender going into 2023.

The 25-year-old from Georgia opened the UFC 282 pay-per-view on Saturday night with a commanding stoppage victory over fellow featherweight contender Bryce Mitchell, forcing a tap in the second round.
Till was placed on his back by a body lock takedown, and Du Plessis quickly climbed into mount. When Till offered his back, “Stillknocks” quickly tightened the choke, prolonging the tap.
Topuria won the standup battle in the opening round, but Mitchell finished in first place, giving him some momentum going into the middle stanza. Topuria, though, was not having it. In the second round, Mitchell was attacked by “El Matador,” who wounded him on the feet before knocking him to the ground, slipping into side control, and establishing the fight-ending choke.
Topuria, who is currently 13-0 overall and 5-0 in the UFC, should be in the Top 10 when the rankings are updated the following week. He is still one to watch in the featherweight category.
