Zhang Peimian claims that he has significantly improved himself in order to compete for the world title once more.

Zhang Peimian, a former challenger for the ONE strawweight kickboxing world title, won his comeback fight against Torepchi Dongak at ONE Fight Night 8 in March 2023 by way of a unanimous decision. This victory marked the beginning of Zhang Peimian’s path back to title contention.

The Chinese fighter, who is only 20 years old, is hoping to secure a world title shot against his former tormentor, who is now the reigning ONE strawweight kickboxing world champion, Jonathan Di Bella, with a victory against Rui Botelho in their upcoming fight at ONE Fight Night 16 on November 3.

At the illustrious Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, Zhang and Botelho will exchange blows during the boxing match. Ahead of this key confrontation, “The Fighting Rooster” stated his joy ahead of this bout since, according to him, it is an opportunity for him to demonstrate how much he has progressed since their last matchup.

In his most recent interview with ONE Championship, the representative of Shengli Fight Club expressed his joy over this development and said:

“When I received the offer, I was so excited because [I am eager to fight again].” Right now I’m getting ready for the conflict that’s coming up. I have been putting in a lot of work in the gym lately to get better.

Since securing a roster slot with the world’s largest martial arts organization in 2022, the leading Chinese challenger has compiled a record of 3-1 since beginning competition under the auspices of the promotion. After a successful debut in March 2022 at ONE: Lights Out, where he defeated Josh Tonna via technical knockout in the second round, he went on to win by unanimous decision against Aslanbek Zikreev at ONE 159 in July 2022, which set up the title battle against Richie Di Bella.

Zhang qualified for the ONE Championship by winning the Road to ONE Tournament in 2021. During this tournament, which featured a four-man kickboxing competition, Zhang emerged victorious as the lone survivor.

His Portuguese opponent, on the other hand, is currently on a losing streak after suffering defeats at the hands of Superlek Kiatmoo9, Taiki Naito, Asahi Shinagawa, and Aslanbek Zikreev over the course of the past four fights.

Existing Prime Video customers in North America will not be charged extra to watch ONE Fight Night 16: Haggerty vs. Andrade on Prime Video because it will be broadcast live during US Primetime.
