17-time Marcus ‘Buchecha’ Almeida, a former world champion in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and a rising star in the heavyweight division of ONE Championship MMA, is set to make his much awaited return to action this coming Friday night. He will be going for his fifth consecutive victory since making the move to the sport of MMA in 2021.
At ONE Fight Night 13: Allazov vs. Grigorian, which will be shown on Prime Video, Almeida will compete against Oumar ‘Reug Reug’ Kane, a Senegalese wrestling sensation.
On Friday, August 4th, the event will be telecast live from the illustrious Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
In a video that was uploaded on Almeida’s official channel on YouTube, he stated that he is prepared to win his upcoming bout and take another step toward achieving MMA fame.
This is what the Brazilian grappling legend, who is 32 years old:
“My fight is supposed to take place in Thailand, therefore I’m traveling there. So, shall we get going? Let us proceed towards my fifth battle and, if it is the will of God, towards my fifth victory. And yet another step has been completed, yet another step has been completed on this MMA adventure.
In August of 2022, at ONE on Prime Video 1: Moraes vs. Johnson II, the fighter known as “Buchecha” was seen competing for the last time. After winning the fight with a heel hook submission in the first round against a former contender for the ONE interim heavyweight world title, Kirill Grishenko, he decided to take a vacation for the remainder of the year. Now that he’s back, he’s prepared to continue his ascent to the top of the heavyweight division.
“Reug Reug,” on the other hand, has won four out of the previous five matches he’s competed in the ONE Championship. Both of his most recent victories came against Batradz Gazzaev and Jasur Mirzamukhamedov, with the former being a technical knockout and the latter being a unanimous decision.
